Lake Dallas Photographer |Yearly Review of Images from 2013

It has been quite a year and I have learned sooooo much.  I just hope I can remember it all.  lol.

Reviewing my past images and selecting some of my faves from year 2013 made me remember just how many emotions are wrapped up in an image.  Parents’ love is beyond measure when it comes to our precious little ones no matter if they are newborns or graduating high school.  Our children will always hold a very special place in our hearts no matter how old they get.  Here are a few of my favorites images from this past year.

I am looking forward to 2014!!!! My inspirational word for the year is “FULFILL”.   It’s not about me, it’s about you and your family.  I want to fulfill your wishes, your dreams, your desires for the most fun and beautifully captured images for this new year!!!!!

Birthing/After Birth Photography/Baby Love

“Go with the flow and be open minded is the best thing for a photographer, because sometimes things just don’t go according to plan.”

     – Kerri Hamilton

Being my first birthing photography experience, I have to say, it was a challenge.  I was on edge the whole time I was waiting for Momma to go into labor.  I had to be sure I had everything ready to go:  camera gear packed, any props (blankets) packed, both lenses cleaned, the battery and extra battery fully charged,  two empty compact flash cards as I shoot in RAW format, and a really good map showing me how to get to the hospital be it day or night.  All this preparation and little did I know that one night as I shut off my computer to go to bed at midnight that 30 minutes thereafter Daddy would be driving Momma to the hospital.  I didn’t find out till the next morning…. oh well…. bummer.  Did I mention this is my FIRST birth photography session. Another thing that I learned is that it’s very important for your client’s to call you whenever that time comes!!! So I had lots of learning curves with this. But, ya know it’s all good.  It was an experience that I needed to go through to find out what all those birthing photographers go through and I tell ya… they are AWESOME!!!!!  I have more appreciation and respect for birthing photographers than ever.  I couldn’t have experienced it if it wasn’t for the wonderful William’s family.  Thanks ever so much for giving me this opportunity!!!!

I was very happy to learn it’s still not too late to get those first precious moments captured at the hospital after the baby has been born.  So that is exactly what we did.  After birth photography rocked and I loved it so much that I hope to do more in the future!!!! and still hope to do a birthing session too! Everything just fell into place so beautifully and naturally.  There was a huge bay window in their room with some soft cushions that we just used that area for our session.  Here are some images from what was expected to be a birthing session turned out to be a beautiful after birth session.  Those first moments are still as precious as ever.

Indoor Maternity Session | Williams Family | Lake Dallas Photographer

Nothing is more comfortable than being in your own home.  It makes for a more relaxed, personal and intimate photos.  I was so enthralled with all the beautiful natural light they had in their apartment.  I really enjoyed this maternity session because of the sweet affection they have for  one another and the bond they share.

I also learned something about photography.  Images are everywhere, but the most important ones are of us, our family, our moments visualized.  I hope that you (John and Mindy) will remember what you, at that very moment, felt in your deepest of hearts – joy, love, honor, excitement, longing, etc… in every image you receive from me.  Marriage isn’t perfect, but through the ups and downs we can support and encourage one another.  Out of that love and commitment, God gives a married couple a wonderful gift – a new life.  Congratulations you two, I am so happy for you both.

I am so blessed and humbled to be part of this special journey along with you and I thank you very much Williams Family.  I am looking forward to capturing more special memories in the very near future.
